Blake is a journalist at a London magazine, facing the challenge of holding onto its audience in the digital era. She starts a column inspired by the story of her late grandmother, born in the "House of Hope." A box left for her there contains a piece of delicate fabric and the sketch of a dress.

To learn more, the young woman travels to Paris, where the charming Henri introduces her to the depths of French fashion. They establish together that the sketch is the work of the milliner Evelina Lavin, whose fame once rivaled that of Coco Chanel. After the end of World War II, however, she never managed to resume her career and returned to her hometown. What made her retreat from the limelight and live in seclusion? And what does all this have to do with Blake's grandmother?

As she uncovers Evelina's tragic story, Blake will question whether she herself is ready to risk everything in the name of love.
