Rosamunde Pilcher is a British writer, born on 22 September 1924 in the village of Lelant, Cornwall, England. She gained the surname Pilcher after her marriage to Graham Pilcher. The marriage had 4 children. She lives and works in Dundee, Scotland. She is the author of short stories and 28 novels in the romantic genre. She began writing in 1949. Her breakthrough came with "The Shell Seekers" in 1987, selling more than 50 million copies worldwide. In 1996, "Coming Home" won the Novel of the Year award from RNA (Romantic Novelists' Association). Her books are extremely successful in Germany, as the TV channel ZDF has filmed more than 100 of her stories. After 2000, she stopped writing.
