Minerva the owl encourages the little one to reason, ask the right questions, draw knowledge from experience and think for himself. The owl is a symbol of philosophy since antiquity. She is a companion of the goddess of wisdom – Athena in the ancient Greeks, Minerva in the Romans. Why has this symbol survived through the millennia? It expresses two ideas: reason transcends appearances (they disappear at night); reason begins when daytime affairs are over.
