Little Nutbrown Hare shows his father how much he loves him: as much as he can stretch his arms; as high as he can jump. But Big Nutbrown Hare, who can stretch his arms farther and jump higher, loves him just as much. So Little Nutbrown Hare tells him he loves him up to the Moon, but that is only half of how much Big Nutbrown Hare loves him.

Sam McBratney is an Irish author, born in 1943. He is the creator of over 50 children's and teenage books. The author is best known for his work "Guessing How Much I Love You", of which over 47 million copies have been sold worldwide and it has been translated into over 57 languages.

In his own words, McBratney spent his postwar childhood "in shorts and a Fair Isle sweater". He studied history and political science at Trinity College, Dublin. He became a teacher and taught at a high school, primary school and college of further education. He retired from teaching in 1990 to concentrate on his writing career.

McBratney initially wrote teenage novels. But after his editor suggested he make an illustrated book for younger readers, the writer began working with illustrator Anita Jeram on "Guessing How Much I Love You", which was published in 1994. The title is often listed among the most popular and best-selling children's books of all time.
