The Canon EOS R1 is designed for sports photographers. With it, you shoot faster, capture decisive moments, and deliver images and videos to the client in the shortest possible time. The flagship allows continuous shooting at 40 frames per second, an extremely fast electronic shutter of 1/64,000 sec, and minimal distortion from the rolling shutter for incredible results.
A 24.2-megapixel stacked CMOS sensor with back-illuminated design delivers superior low-light performance and ultra-fast readout speed, virtually eliminating rolling shutter distortion. The cross-type AF of the EOS R1 is sensitive to both horizontal and vertical lines, giving you more precision and sensitivity, especially in low light and low contrast. The Canon EOS R1 AF system can recognize and automatically distinguish different subjects (faces, eyes, bodies, sports, animals, cars, and airplanes) and track them even if they are briefly obscured or small in the frame.
The RF lens mount enables optical designs that were previously impossible, as well as more portable lenses that you can take with you more often. The EOS R1 uses the lens aperture ring for both stills and video.
Intelligent Dual Pixel autofocus with action priority mode that automatically determines the subject in football, volleyball, and basketball. Canon's deep learning technology allows images from the high-sensitivity sensor to be upscaled faithfully and accurately up to four times, to 96 megapixels.
Shooting at 40 fps with AF and AE with a pre-continuous shooting buffer to capture moments that happened before you pressed the button – even when shooting in RAW format. Fast and accurate focusing in darkness down to –7.5 EV – approximately the brightness of the aurora borealis – with precision and accuracy.
Superior video for hybrid creators allows 6K RAW video up to 60p, 4K up to 120p, and 2K up to 240p, using the full width of the full-frame sensor. With the dual shooting function enabled on the Canon EOS R1, a single press of the shutter release button during Full HD video recording captures JPG stills with a resolution of 5616 x 3168 pixels (17 MP) at up to 10 fps, using the same shutter speed – without interrupting video recording.
The Canon EOS R1 offers many connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5G BASE-T Ethernet, ensuring images reach clients as quickly as possible.
